Bulgaria

Bulgaria is located on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe and shares common borders with five countries: in the north, the Danube River forms the border with Romania, to the south it borders Turkey and Greece, to the west – with Serbia and North Macedonia, and to the east with the Black Sea.

Every year, thousands of tourists visit the country not only in the summer to rest in the seaside resorts, but also in winter, to go skiing, and also to study the culture and traditions of our people, as well as to visit the cultural and historical centers of the Balkan Peninsula. In Bulgaria and throughout the year, you can receive medical treatment in balneological resorts.

The country has an area of 110 912 sq.m. More than half of its territory is mountainous or hilly: Stara Planina crosses the country from the northwestern border to the Black Sea and forms a watershed between the Danube River and the Aegean Sea. To the south lie the Rhodopes, which represent the border with Greece. The Rila mountain is located in Southwestern Bulgaria, where it is also the highest point of the country – Mount Musala (2925 m).

To the east there are several valleys, including the Upper Thracian Lowland.

The largest river is the Danube, of which Iskar and Yantra are tributaries. Other important rivers – Maritza, Goiter, Kamchia.

CLIMATE:

Most parts of Bulgaria have a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers, to the south it passes into the Mediterranean. The average temperature in May – 20 ° C, in June and September – 25 ° C in July and August – + 26-28 ° C. The average annual temperature is approx 13 ° C.

The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia.
